8 Tips for Healthy and Beautiful Nails

Are you taking proper care of your nails? Nail care is pretty easy and simple when you know what you need to do (or not to do). Here are sharing 8 important tips that will give you your healthiest and strongest nails ever!

1. Don’t bite, pick, or cut your cuticles

This can be a hard habit to break, but it is so so important to break it! The purpose of your cuticles is to seal and protect your nail bed from bacteria that might cause infection. When you break this seal, you leave your skin exposed to harmful bacteria and potential infection, which is not a recipe for healthy nails!

 2. Moisturize your nail bed and cuticles

Going along with tip #1, it is also very important to make sure your nail beds and cuticles are hydrated so they don’t get dried out!  Non-toxic cuticle oils are perfect ways to keep your cuticles nice and hydrated.

3. Keep your nails and hands dry

In order to keep your nails growing long and strong, it is essential that they do not get dried out. When doing things such as washing the dishes, your hands and nails end up soaking in warm water and harsh dish soap, which can easily dry them out. Make sure you are wearing rubber gloves to protect your nails from becoming soft and brittle during this process, as well as protecting your skin from drying out.

4. Avoid toxic and harmful nail polishes

Many popular nail polishes contain harmful and toxic chemicals in their formula, which are absorbed through your nails and can start to affect your body negatively. This is what makes Huella nail polishes so amazing! You can be certain our nail polishes are the safest for growing strong and healthy nails. Our 10 free Nail Lacquer is free from 10 of the most common harmful ingredients found in most polishes; Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), Toluene, Camphor, Ethyl Tosylamide, Xylene, Triphenyl Phosphate (TPHP), Benzophenone-1, and Parabens, so you never hard to worry about using them.

5. Avoid acrylic & gel treatments

Just as it’s important to avoid toxic nail polishes, it is also important to avoid treatments that are hard on your nails, such as acrylics and gel manicures. These treatments are very damaging to your nails and will leave them very weak and brittle. As you might have guessed, these treatments also expose your nails to very toxic ingredients that can be harmful to your health.

6. Use a crystal nail file

Traditional emery nail files leave your nails fragile and more prone to breaking and chipping. Crystal nail files are a lot more gentle and don’t tear up your nails as emery files do. Crystal nail files are also easier to sanitize and last much longer than emery ones, so they are a much better investment for you and your nails.

7. Use a non-acetone nail polish remover

Acetone based nail polish remover is very harsh on your nails and leaves them very dry and brittle because it strips your nails of their natural oils. This is why you should use a non-acetone nail polish remover. They are gentler on your nails and do not dry them out!

8. Never peel off your nail polish

Whether you have on gel, shellac, or just regular nail polish, you should never peel off your nail polish. When you do this, you actually remove a layer of your nail in the process. This makes your nails weaker and more fragile. Always make sure you use a non-acetone nail polish remover to remove your polish and keep your nails strong and healthy!

Easy enough right? Now that you know these 8 simple tips, you are one step closer to having stronger and healthier nails!

xoxo,

HUELLA
